My Story

Hello, I’m Rachael and I absolutely love style. I’ve been collecting clothes for years investing in wardrobe show-stoppers, fail-safe staples, special vintage pieces and thrifty second-hand bargains.

I could muse about the perfect shade of olive, lust over the fold of a fabric, obsess over a tiny intricate embroidered emblem, coo over a pleat, drape or voluminous silhouette, literally forever.

Finding style inspiration is a great pleasure of mine. I love paper references such as books, journals and magazines both past and present. I hoard look books from my favourite brands admiring how pieces have been paired together and styled to encapsulate a mood and feel. Film is another great source for inspiration, Tilda Swinton’s entire wardrobe in 'A Bigger Splash' will always be in my top 5 of style influences. I love sifting through old family photo albums of my Mum’s Dynasty era and Nan’s Rita Hayworth inspired swishy dresses. Online, I like discovering style via Pinterest and indulging in longer content reads over on Substack. I also love looking at people’s style off-screen, you know in real life. I’m a magpie for detail and love asking people where they’ve sourced their style from. Maybe I’ll restart the 00’s phenomenon of street style with a hashtag #TheWayTheyWoreIt - sorry I digress !

Style aside, my next biggest passion is people. As a former shopkeeper of an independent bricks and mortar store, I miss the connection and conversation shopping brings. However as our lives become busier, the choice of how we spend our time becomes greater and our purse strings become shorter, I know this has had a direct effect on traditional in-person shopping. And so, I’m on a mini mission to create new access route to the brands you love but perhaps can’t always support as much as you would like to by opening up my own wardrobe to rent.

As a one-woman business, I’m starting this as a passion project with the hope to grow it into an inclusive style community venture with more sizes and lengths available to hire. Right now, my focus is to build an interesting and diverse accessories collection so more ‘friends’ can enjoy the renting experience.

I’ve had a few raised brow expressions about lending my wardrobe to strangers but I’m here for the positivity and trust. If we are comfortable with renting out our homes, hiring tableware for events, sharing our cars and swapping books, sourdough starters and seedlings, I know the shared community can open its circle to loaning clothes.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you find something lovely in my wardrobe and it brings you as much joy wearing it as it does me.
